Quick troubleshooting

• CapsLock doesn't trigger recording. Open System Settings → Privacy & Security → Accessibility, find Spiel, and turn the toggle on. Spiel will pick up the permission within a second.
• "Allow microphone access" prompt didn't appear. System Settings → Privacy & Security → Microphone → enable Spiel.
• Whisper model download stuck. The model is ~1.5 GB, downloaded once on first launch. Make sure you have a working internet connection. Quit and relaunch — it resumes.
• Beautify / Summary / Translate are slow or fail. They go through our backend (a Cloudflare Worker). If you see "failed", check your network. Otherwise the call typically takes 1–4 seconds.

How Spiel works

Tap CapsLock to start recording. Tap CapsLock again to stop. Whisper transcribes your audio locally on-device — no cloud involved unless you opted in to Auto-beautify. The transcript lands in your clipboard, ready to paste anywhere.

Hold Shift+CapsLock at start or stop to translate the recording into the language picked in the popover (default: English) instead of beautifying.
